Welcome to the Digital Texas Heritage Resource Center! This site highlights notable Special Collections holdings at the Southwestern University Smith Library Center that have been digitized for inclusion in the University of North Texas Portal to Texas History. This site represents just a fraction of what's on offer at the Portal. We hope it will whet your appetite for Texas history and inspire you to explore our complete digital collections at the UNT Portal.
SU Special Collections holdings include some of the cornerstone documents and books of Texas history. Among these are rare copies of legal materials from the period of Texas independence through the annexation and reconstruction periods. SU’s 19th-century Texana collections, including the Thomas Falconer Correspondence, the Henry Matthews Diaries, and the Johnson Family Correspondence, are for the most part available nowhere else; historically, these materials were accessible only by onsite visits. The Digital Texas Heritage Resource Center makes these collections and others digitally available to the public through the UNT Portal to Texas History. We invite students, teachers, scholars, and other researchers to explore the Belford Lumber Company Collection, the John G. Tower Senate Collection, and the Edward A. Clark Texana Collection, all digitally accessible through the UNT Portal.
